Hello.
I have a clean-up script that deletes > 5days old files on /archive/idocs directory. This script runs twice a week, Tuesday and Friday. This creates a log file that shows the current space usage before and after the files were deleted from the directory.
On Feb 3, the script ran and generated the below log file:
As you can see, when the script ended, space usage was at 100%.
The next time the script ran, on Feb 7, the log showed (before execution) that space usage was at 91% and not 100%.
How come the space usage before execution was at 91% instead of 100%? I have confirmed with our AIX team that no files were manually deleted from the directory before Feb 7. Instead, another batch of arc* files were written to the directory on Feb 4, days before the script ran on Feb 7.
Thank you in advance.

what does 5 days old mean - last accessed 5 days ago or created 5 days ago - in the second case it might be that something was still using it while your script run first time - but the process finished and released the space before you run your script again.

So there's an unaccounted 3.4Gb somewhere!
