what is a "gpfs" and a "hdiskpower"?

"gpfs" is IBMs "General Parallel File System", which you could have found out consulting Wikipedia.

"hdiskpower" is a term used by EMC software to describe something which seems to be quite similar to vpath-devices when using multipath-drivers with IBMs equipment. You could have found that one too by taking a cursory glance at google. The first link presented to me was this: hdisk and hdiskpower
