install CDE on AIX 5.3
Hi all,
I want to install CDE on AIX 5.3 - TL 10 , X server already installed and most X applications works fine.
i made iso files for 3 out of 8 volumes for the aix ( itried only 3 out of 8 with no luck ), and i mounted them as if they were filesystems.
then i ran
Code:
#smit install_all

and specified the current directory which is the file system made of iso images .
but i cannot see any

X11.Dt*

filesets
what i'm missing here

try to run inutoc in the folder.

and if not make sure there is a write permission there.

I did workaround i just mounted AIX 5.3 media vloume 2 on a windows machine , copy X11.Dt* and FTPed them in a temp dir than ran smit install_all .
Now everything is okay

Normal User Unable to Login Through AIX CDE

When we as normal user try to login, the session startup terminates and we are presented with the login screen.The root user is able to login without any problem.I can log in to the Aix server as normal user through telnet & using xmanager but not directly through server terminal .The Aix version... 11.0 fresh install: I never see CDE Login

I've just completed a fresh install of HP-UX 11.0 on my 712/80 and everything starts up fine until it gets to the point where X kicks off and I believe at this point is supposed to launch into the CDE login.
