I have a problem with the AIX version 4:
I can not get into failsafe session
kindly someone knows how to enter this mode?

if you mean boot into service mode / sms menu - press 5 (keyboard, not numblock) or F5

and i don't know how to open a failsafe session

I believe you need a SMS floppy disk for the model you are trying to setup. I do not know where it is possible to get a copy if you do not have this.

when the os start i've this window:
The DT messaging system could not be started .
To correct the problem :
1. Choose [OK] to return the login screen
2. Select Failsafe Session from the login screen's option menu and log in
3. Check to see that the hostname is corrected by using the command :
smit mktcpip
4. Check to see that if a search list is specified in /etc/resolv.conf, it includes the domain your machine is configured on .

This looks like an CDE message if I am not mistaken and has nothing to do with SMS or failsafe from the O/S point of view. What happens if you click on OK? It should return you to a X desktop login splash screen! At the bottom of the splash where you enter the username etc there should be a drop down menu (perhaps 2 menus) one of these will have the failsafe entry.

The failsafe mode will take you to a normal terminal screen.
