changing server time

Hi all,

we have IBM- AIX 5.2 operating system on that we have our oracle production database and there is daily crontab script for backup. my boss told me to change the server time.if i change the server time by root user does it give problem to any application or script which are runing on server ?. thanks in advance.

Yes,

It needs down time. Because your server having DB. Please get a down time after that you have to change the time and sync with your ntpd server for your time chaging.

Younusdba,

what exactly do you mean with change the servertime ?

Change the time of the cronjob, change the timezone of the server or really change the time of the server by x minutes?
