Function parameters not defined within the function definition(sub), but that's doable in a similar looking way
Some functions do not return a value but just modify it, like that:
But overall perl is ok. It does the job. It provides a good overall basic toolset. I try to avoid modules when possible, especially when not contained in perl core and thus giving up comfort, reimplementing things which are done in a better quality, for reducing Installation efforts needed and keeping Codebase small. (If you use modules, you may end up with other dependent modules).
Can anyone tell me if the copy command in PERL has the same functionality as in KSH shell in UNIX or does it actually move the file ??

If I use 2 system commands in a script, will one finish before the next one starts? or will it start the first and the second at the same time?

Hi everyone
I am not even a novice at Perl scripting .. but had to edit one the other day. The only way I can get it to run is by prefixing 'perl' before running it - ie # perl scriptname
I am running AIX.
Any ideas why i have to do that ?
