Hi Vext01,
The battery may not be the issue - although I'm sure that it's not helping in any way. From memory there was a SUN document published (Probably about 10 Years ago) that mentioned issues with the ALOM when the battery was discharged. It shouldn't have made any difference as the settings were all stored in NVRAM, but the flat battery could cause unpredictable behaviour (or something like that ).
I'd like to give this some more attention, but I'm preparing loads of stuff or auctioning things for a sequence of "Disaster Rehearsals" - so can only be here and active when the Auditors and Business Users are off patting themselves on the back!
Regards
Gull04

I'm currently trying to move a perfectly find harddrive from a V210 to a V440. From what I can tell, the disk labeling a bit different, (V210 is c1t0d0 and V440 is c0t0d0). My question is, what all do I have to change to get the V440 to boot off of this with very little complications. Right now, it... (21 Replies)

I have bought from eBay a second hand Sun Fire V210 server and I'm really stumped at the lack of complete instructions on how to connect to it.
I don't have a Windows machine, I've only got Ubuntu and OS X computers. None of them have an old RS-232 port on them either.

Hey,
I have a V210 with a failed CPU fan.
The temperature is currently at 84C and I've been asked to wait a few weeks before replacing as its a production system and it cant be shut down yet.
Is it too hot? Do I risk killing the CPU at this temp?
Its been like this for a few weeks now... (5 Replies)

NAME
battery-stats - collected battery statistics
DESCRIPTION
The battery-stats contains statistics about battery charge over time, as collected by the battery-stats-collector (8) daemon.
FORMAT
Each line in the file represents one sample and is of the form:
<seconds> <charge%> <powermode> <UTC-date> <UTC-time>
separated by spaces and terminated by a newline.
Where:
seconds
is the number of seconds since 1st Jan 1970 00:00:00 UTC
charge%
is the battery charge a number between 0 and 100
powermode
indicates the power mode:
0 A/C off
1 On battery
2 On backup power
UTC-date
a human-readable date in the format YYYY/MM/DD. Note that this is in UTC, not the local or system timezone.
UTC-time
a human-readable time in the format HH:MM:SS (using a 24-hour clock). Note that this is in UTC, not the local or system timezone.
minutes-left
is the BIOS estimate of how many minutes of running time the battery would provide. This may be unreliable, depending on the BIOS
through which it was collected.
EXAMPLE
A battery under charge might result in the following samples:
1032651245 27 1 2002/09/21 23:34:05 94
1032651275 28 1 2002/09/21 23:34:35 97

1032651365 30 1 2002/09/21 23:36:05 106
FILES
The default set-up is to save battery statistics in /var/log and rotate the logs weekly, which results in this set of files:
/var/log/battery-stats - current (most recent) statistics
/var/log/battery-stats.[0-9]+ - less recent statistics
/var/log/battery-stats.[0-9]+.gz - ancient statistics
