I'd assume it's a syntax thing. Can you put in [ code ] blocks (remove the spaces) what you're entering an either an ls or a ls -al output?

Sorry for double post...but let's say all the files you want to remove end in a .sh format...so, for example:
test.sh
test1.sh
testBAK.sh
You could remove these three files a couple of ways:
(assuming your in the correct working directory)
The middle would be the best way, in my opinion. The first line would remove anything in the current directory starting with "test" and could potentially remove other files you don't want to remove (i.e. testing.sh). The third line would remove anything ending with "sh" and could, again, remove files you don't mean to touch (i.e. importantfiles.sh).
I am trying to remove a file so that I can delete a directory. Unfortuantely the file looks like this --------.--- and the system is not allowing me to remove the file. System message is
rm: Error: Illegal option -- -
usage: rm file...
I have tried rm * and rm *.* to no avail.

I have AIX 5.1
I was wondering how to remove a file name with a space in it Say {tb lsv.csv} ? When I use the {rm} command if you have a space it thinks it is a new file. So it looks for {tb} and {lsv.csv} instead of the name as a whole.
Thanks in advance

rpccp_remove_entry
remove entry(1m) remove entry(1m)NAME
remove entry - Removes a name service entry from the name service database
SYNOPSIS
rpccp remove entry entry-name [-s syntax]
OPTIONS
Indicates the name syntax of the entry name (optional). The only value for this option is the dce name syntax, which is the default name
syntax. Until an alternative name syntax becomes available, specifying the -s option is unnecessary.
ARGUMENTS
Indicates the name of the target name service entry. For an entry in the local cell, you can omit the cell name and specify only the cell-
relative name.
DESCRIPTION
The remove entry command removes an entry from the name service database. The name of the entry is required.
Privilege Required
You need read permission to the CDS object entry (the target name service entry). You also need delete permission to the CDS object entry
or to the parent directory.
NOTE
This command is replaced at Revision 1.1 by the dcecp command and may not be provided in future releases of DCE.
EXAMPLES
The following commands run RPCCP and remove the entry /.:/LandS/anthro/Cal_host_2 from the local cell of the name service database: $ rpccp
