Since you are using cron and running the script every 30 minutes, if you don't mind keeping an extra copy of your log file, you can do this instead. The cp is necessary to ensure that your next run captures any entries that might be created during the execution of the commands that extract the lines you are interested during the current run. If you should later decide to gather your extract at a different frequency (1 minute, 15 minutes, 1 hour, whatever), no changes are necessary to your script. Simply change your cron entry and forget about it. :
Note: The above code does not test for file existence to make sure they actually exist before trying to copy or move them, nor did I populate all of the variables such as ArchiveDir, CumulativeFile, TimeStamp, Pattern, etc.
