pca (patch check advanced) still works, but the only official tools would be "Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 2.5" and you can use the update-connection from any solaris installation (have a look at "smpatch" from commandline or "updatemanager" from a graphical interface).
of course you can always download the complete solaris patch cluster from sunsolve.

For example, we have servers, we run the sun patch cluster on them every so often. but then we have some 1zee 2zee's which id like to identify.

install-solaris
install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.
The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:
For SPARC machines:
128 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
128 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
384 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
For x86 machines:
256 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
256 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
