awk getline question

Hi there, I have an ifconfig output and i want to write a script that determines whether there is a line "groupname ipmp" on a particular interface

here is my example ifconfig -a output

Code:
lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
        inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
nge0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
        inet 10.1.1.1 netmask ffff0000 broadcast 10.1.255.255
        groupname ipmp
        ether 0:21:28:00:0e:06
nge1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 3
        inet 0.0.0.0 netmask ff000000 broadcast 0.255.255.255
        groupname ipmp
        ether 0:21:28:00:0e:07

I tried using the following, but this only evaluates the line directly after the pattern match which happens to be the interface name ($NIC_NAME) e.g nge0

Code:
        NIC_IPMP=$(ifconfig -a | nawk -v pattern=$NIC_NAME '
        ( $0 ~ pattern ){
        getline
        if( index( $1 , "groupname") )
                print "IPMP"
        else
                print "NO-IPMP"
        }')

Because my target line is 2 lines below the pattern match, does anybody know a way I can do a kind of double getline so that i can check 2 lines down as opposed to 1 ?

any help on this would be greatly appreciated
