Hardware virtualization
Hello to all
In my organization we want to pass to move the systems to an virtualized environment, nevertheless, considering the absence of resources, the idea is to acquire the versers and that the department (I) do the facilities, tests, etc. Wearing out the possible minimal cost in licenses.
I have read everything what I have found round there as for vmware and xenserver, although it is true that there is enough information, almost quite it is relative to environments more important than the one that I manage.
That's why the idea wanted to raise you and that you comment to me on your experiences and help me with your knowledge. Of course everything would do it to the minimal possible cost.
The idea is the following one:
Physical server 1: 2 virtual machines: a) mail server, and b) web server(they have to be independent).
Physical server 2: 3 virtual machines: a) file server and databases oracle, b) web server(intranet) working with databases mysql and postgresql, c) Windows 2003 server.
Everything is not implemented on a physical server, because they are going to settle in different networks. It would implant all the servers with Linux (except w2003, skylight) ubuntu or suse preferably.
Is the idea to acquire two servers (hp if possible) with processors Xeon and 8bg?? Of Ram (as I have said the budget it is very limited) who support the execution of these services on virtual machines vmware or xenserver in his free version, if it is possible.

Hi everyone,
I have ten servers with solaris (diffrent versions).
there is solaris 10, solaris 6 and solaris 8.
some are SPARC and some are x86
I would like to move them to one server so they all will be virtual.

SYNOPSIS
systemd-detect-virt [OPTIONS...]
DESCRIPTION
systemd-detect-virt detects execution in a virtualized environment. It identifies the virtualization technology and can distinguish full
machine virtualization from container virtualization. systemd-detect-virt exits with a return value of 0 (success) if a virtualization
technology is detected, and non-zero (error) otherwise. By default, any type of virtualization is detected, and the options --container and
--vm can be used to limit what types of virtualization are detected.
When executed without --quiet will print a short identifier for the detected virtualization technology. The following technologies are

If multiple virtualization solutions are used, only the "innermost" is detected and identified. That means if both machine and container
virtualization are used in conjunction, only the latter will be identified (unless --vm is passed).
OPTIONS
The following options are understood:
-c, --container
Only detects container virtualization (i.e. shared kernel virtualization).
-v, --vm
Only detects hardware virtualization).
-r, --chroot
Detect whether invoked in a chroot(2) environment. In this mode, no output is written, but the return value indicates whether the
process was invoked in a chroot() environment or not.
--private-users
Detect whether invoked in a user namespace. In this mode, no output is written, but the return value indicates whether the process was
invoked inside of a user namespace or not. See user_namespaces(7) for more information.
-q, --quiet
Suppress output of the virtualization technology identifier.
-h, --help
Print a short help text and exit.
--version
Print a short version string and exit.
EXIT STATUS
If a virtualization technology is detected, 0 is returned, a non-zero code otherwise.
