Hey all!
I'm working on Solaris10 right now and I was fiddling around with a fresh install and was wondering about the service that uses resolv.conf?
I know prior to Sol10 (SMF) it was /etc/init.d/inetsvc stop and start to reload resolv.conf changes

OK I am running solaris 10.
I made some changes to my ipf.conf file and issued the command:
ipf -Fa -f /etc/ipf/ipf.conf
to flush out the old and bring in the new changes.
When I ran ipfstat -ioh to verify it had brought in the new rule set I saw something I wasn't expecting to see.

i have this program running on my solaris and there are two identical config files, i am not sure which one is being used by this program but I am sure it uses one of them.
I run lsof -p {pid} but it does not show which config file has been read by this program, what i am doing wrong?

I was told to add the "nis" in front of "files" for below lines in /etc/nsswitch.conf was not in a good practise. I tried to search in google and man page for nsswitch.conf and can't find the answer. could someone please help me?

Hi,
I've installed Solaris 11.3(live media) and configured DNS. Everytime I reboot the server, resolv.conf got deleted and it created a new nsswitch.conf.
I used below to configure both settings:
# svccfg -s dns/client

lpc - line printer control program SYNOPSIS
lpc [ command [ parameter(s) ] ] DESCRIPTION
lpc provides limited control over printer and class queues provided by CUPS. It can also be used to query the state of queues. If no command is specified on the command-line, lpc displays a prompt and accepts commands from the standard input. COMMANDS The lpc program accepts a subset of commands accepted by the Berkeley lpc program of the same name: exit Exits the command interpreter. help [command] ? [command] Displays a short help message. quit Exits the command interpreter. status [queue] Displays the status of one or more printer or class queues. NOTES
Since lpc is geared towards the Berkeley printing system, it is impossible to use lpc to configure printer or class queues provided by CUPS. To configure printer or class queues you must use the lpadmin(8) command or another CUPS-compatible client with that functionality. SEE ALSO
