Thank you so much for your immediate reply. Here is my output of top command. I have only four CPU and it is showing 5.50 load average.
It should be less then 4*1.15 => 4.6 But is showing more now. Is this possible? Please let me know. This is LINUX server.

I am using 48 CPU sunOS server at my work.
The application has facility to check the current load average before starting a new process to control the load.
Right now it is configured as 48. So it does mean that each CPU can take maximum one proces and no processe is waiting.
