I've seen this error on one of my test applications, on the next restart usually it's ok.
Take a look at the server logs, verify that you haven't changed /etc/resolv.conf and other DNS related file, like /etc/hostname and possibly restart apache.
Also, make sure that you've specified correctly "ServerName" directive in httpd.conf.

I am ltrying to find the config file to modify a parameter for apache (I guess). Here, when sending mail using php web form I get a copy of all mail sent from that form, but here is a sample of what I get :

I have these entries in the /etc/esolv.conf:

When I use 'dig' or 'nslookup' command, like 'dig yahoo.com' it uses the localhost as the server.

Hi all,
I have gone through many posts related to this issue,but my issue wasn't resolved hence creating new thread.
I am unable to ping localhost.
ping localhost tries to ping localhost which is defined in DNS.
My /etc/hosts has entry for localhost as

asadmin-start-instance, start-instance - starts a server instance and all the services associated with it
SYNOPSIS
start-instance [--user admin_user] [--password admin_password] [--host local_host] [--port 4848] [--local=false] [--domain domain_name]
[--debug=false] [--passwordfile filename] [--secure|-s] instance_name
Use the start-instance command to start an instance with the instance name you specify. The start-instance command can be run both locally
and remotely. To start locally, with a domain name identified, the named instance must already exist within that domain. To start
remotely, the administration server must be running on the hostname and port number specified. The user authenticates using the password
identified for the administration server.
OPTIONS
--user administrative user associated for the instance.
--password administrative password corresponding to the administrative user.
--host host name of the machine hosting the administrative instance.
--port administrative port number associated with the administrative host.
--local determines if the command should delegate the request to administrative instance or run locally.
--domain name of the domain.
--debug starts the instance in debug mode.
--passwordfile file containing passwords appropriate for the command (e.g., administrative instance).
--secure if true, uses SSL/TLS to communicate with the administrative instance.
