Ahh...if you don't mind extracting it in Windows, try downloading WinRAR and use it to open the file. It's a good all-around zip/tar extracting tool.

unzip -v gives CRC info of each file in a zip(in my case .EAR) file.

Object oriented style (method):
SYNOPSIS
public bool RarArchive::isSolid (void )
DESCRIPTION
Procedural style:
bool rar_solid_is (RarArchive $rarfile)
Check whether the RAR archive is solid. Individual file extraction is slower on solid archives.
PARAMETERS
o $rarfile
- A RarArchive object, opened with rar_open(3).
RETURN VALUES
Returns TRUE if the archive is solid, FALSE otherwise.
EXAMPLES
