Can you open any other of the MS Suite applications like Excel or PowerPoint? Do you get the smae error? I had a similar issue (not the same error though) and it turned out to be that I had a couple of bad addresses in a memory module. You can test for this using memtest. Its a quick and easy program to use.

Some of these errors can be relatively harmless to. I sometimes get a similar message when exiting from Outlook Express 6 on a range of machines (all Windows XP, however). But OE still functions correctly. So does Thunderbird

Winword.exe error's are strange.

I've had to deal with a few in my time (HAHA I'm old) and sometimes I have found reinstalling the application will fix it. Other times I found nothing happened. So I would swap out the computer (Work) and give them a new imaged PC. When I ghosted a new image then it fixed the error's from showing.

I don't know I've learnt not to ask questions with Windows (not bagging Gates) as the more questions you ask the deeper you get and even more questions you are left with unanswered

Give a reinstall of teh application a go though that may fix your problem.
