weird stuff

I coudln't think of another topic to post this under as the OS on the system is XP pro.

Ok here is the go.

I'm upgrdaing a mates computer. A AMD 1200Mhz and well it wouldn't boot from the CD to do a fresh install (By upgrade I mean OS with complete new install). So I opened up the box and here was the config it had.

IDE1: Master HDD & Secondary HDD
IDE2: CD-ROM & CD-RW

so I changed this config so I could boot to the following.

IDE1: Master HDD & CD-ROM
IDE2: CD-RW & Second HDD

Ok fair enough you think. Yeah so did I. Then I changed the BOIS (Nearly said OBP out of habit ) to make the boot order as follows

FDD --> CD-ROM --> HDD --> NIC

Yeah ok that was all I changed NOTHING ELSE!!! I swear! Then there was a heap of dust in the machine so I blew a little of it out (Blowing the dust out with my mouth NOT a compressor or something, well not yet anyway!) I was just doing a little clean! Then I cleaned a little dust out of the bottom of the box!

I swear I did not touch and jumpers or anything like that! Everything apart from what I changed was the same (changes as said above) Then I tested booting form the CD. YAY! Works fine. Then I had the wrong version CD in it

Ok now the right Cd is in the CD-ROM and boots.

Now for the strange stuff. the machine is no longer a AMD 1200Mhz it's now a AMD 1380 Mhz Not to complain as now it's a little faster So I completed the install thinking it may just be something wrong. Nope Windows after the install detected the same thing.

What the? How the? When the?

I can't think of why this happened, it's got me stumped. I told my old lady what happened later that night. Her reply was, "You knew you were good, but I bet you didn't know you were that good "

Anyone got any idea's what the hell went on? I'm thinking I could become rich by just touching a system I upgrade it

Thanks in advanced for your idea's.

Oh yeah and I swear I changed nothing apart from what I in this post!
