HELP--Redhat on WinXP laptop PROBLEM!!

Hi guys!

Need some help here.....trying to install Redhat 8.0 on a laptop that is already running WinXP. Have made a partition with partition magic but when I try to install Linux it just stops at the check partition/ check hard-drive stage. It has happened on two different laptops of different makes but both running WinXP. It works perfectly on another laptop running WinME. Any ideas??

Thanx in advance!!

Hi,

you created a partition for linux with partition magic ? well usually you don't need to create a partition with an external tool.
Remove this reserved partition and start the installation again.

make sure you just leave the space you want for linux unallocated... Im installing RH9 on my winxpPro laptop and it wouldnt let me install when I created a new empty partition for it... but as soon as I left it unallocated it worked fine

Beware

Beware when installing redhat on a machine already running xp. I found that winxp gets screwed up, and wont boot.
You may have to reinstall xp.
