How to use YouTube tags
We have tags to allow embedding a YouTube video in a thread. Here is how they work.... First I need to find the url of a YouTube video that I want to use. Here is one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do5vj3D-OD4
That "Do5vj3D-OD4" is the key. So I can do this: Rakim by Dead Can Dance to get this: Rakim by Dead Can Dance Sometimes I find a YouTube url that looks like this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ8Fzd3eH0c I can always change the "uk" (or whatever) in the url to "www" and get the same video. So I can just use the "QQ8Fzd3eH0c" with the youtube tags and it should work. If this doesn't work at first, you might try waiting a little while if the video was recently uploaded. But just in case you really need to use an alternate youtube server, there is syntax for that too. To get this video from the uk server, I can use: Ever Dream by Nightwish to get this: Ever Dream by Nightwish But use this alternate syntax only if you can't get the first syntax to work. Please note that most videos will involve subject matter that is only appropriate in the forums in the Unix Lounge where rule 3 is not in force. |
