How Many Technology Forums Do You Actively Participate In?

I used to be quite active on IT Resource Center forums , since I keep getting error code 64 etc.. I spend most of my forum time here now ( up to now I never had 3-5 minutes wait like on ITRC when it was not 6 hours...)

Sometimes I am puzzled how other forums have many more posts than we do. It is because they have a more open policy about chatting and less strict rules and moderation?

i like this forum cause it's all about computer... no small talk which allmost ever leads to trouble on all other boards i use. people think they are more valueable then others only for being 100 or 1000 posts ahead of the rest.

but a little more conversation between the "core" members would be nice...

Thanks for the feedback. Our goals here have always been to keep the chatter low. We Admins do chat privately in our admin forum about forum-related topics (performance, features, future moderators, etc.)

We always wanted the forums to be a friendly place where "just because you were technically smart" you did not have a license to abuse others, as I often used to see on other forums and email lists.

The way I see it, a novice posting a question here could be the next genius creating a some killer software application, so we are here to encourage everyone to simply enjoy the beauty of UNIX and Linux and to "go for it" .....

Perhaps we should have added more forums for Linux distros earlier? Maybe that is why we are lagging a few other forums?

As work interests have changed my forum choices have changed, more to unix, specifically SCO, and I'm heavily involved with the forums following the slow destruction of tSCOg as they implode from their ill-conceived lawsuits attempting to squeeze money out of the Linux community.

BTW, the heading for SCO still implies the name of the Santa Cruz Operation, parts of which (the unix parts) were purchased by Caldera, then renamed The SCO Group. TSCOG is still in operation, but in chapter 11, and probably is going to be forced into chapter 7 and liquidation.

No it does not imply anything. The description says:

Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) was a software company based in Santa Cruz, California which was best known for selling three UNIX variants for Intel x86.

Was means "in the past" and clearly does not imply anything about now.
