Disable Outgoing Mail

I have a Solaris 2.6 server running sendmail (Version 8.9.3p2). It actually receives email and runs the sendmail process. I need to configure it so that it continues to receive email, but disable its ability to send email out. My initial ideas was to just rename the mail and mailx binaries. But then I thought that might be a little too ugly. I then did some research and found that I could change a parameter called “DeliveryMode” to “deferred”. Apparently, this will withhold outgoing email. From there, I believe I could just create a cron job that would rm the contents of /var/spool/mqueue every couple of hours or so.

Can you tell me if this would thoroughly prevent email from going out? Or if there is a better way to do this?

The thought also occurred to me that I could alter outgoing mail so that ALL of it is directed to /dev/null or to a dummy email address (which is valid, but is really just another way to route to /dev/null). Is there a way to do this? Possibly using some config of the /etc/mail/aliases file?

Thank you very much for your assistance,
Rosko
