Data Please help me with my sound card...

Hello,
I have recently installed Red Hat 7.3 next to my Windows XP. Everything works fine, except for the sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy), which is not supported yet. I heard that I can install SB Live! drivers to get it to work, but being a complete linux newbie I don't know how to do that. Can some one please help me?

Thank you for any tips...

Drivers are typically kernel level software modules (code). You would, more than likely, have to insert the driver code in the appropriate place in the kernel code tree and rebuild your kernel, not an easy task for a newbie and not recommended.

You should get a list of the sound cards currently supported by the linux kernel and get a sound card that is supported.

Try this links:

and perhaps:

http://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/howto/Sound-HOWTO

and if you still want to rebuild your kernel:

please help me with my sound card...

You can get a "Sound Blaster 16" install it in a free slot and load the drivers for Linux. Please make sure you disable this card in Windows XP hardware device manager.

Thanks, but...

Thank you for help, but the problem is that i have no free slots in my computer. I've got an integrated sound card on my mobo, so I always switch it on before booting Linux, but it iritates me a lot. Is there any other way i could get Audigy working?
