MySQL Formatting Data

i am writing a script that reads in a file and i just want it to print each element on a new line here is my code and the data that i want to read in

#!/usr/bin/perl
use strict;
use CGI qw(:standard);
use CGI qw(:cgi);

my $data_file = "/tmp/results.txt";
my $configuration;
my $config_ID;
my $cds_ID ;
open (DAT, $data_file) || die ("could not open file");
my @raw_data = <DAT>;
close(DAT);

print "Content-type: text/html \n\n";
print "<html><body>";

#print "(@raw_data)";

print "</body></html>";
********************data from file************************

txtCfgId=test
txtCfguser=test
txtEmailAdr=
txtPager=test
txtSrvOU=test
txtProject=rhga
pnlServerID=eaga
txtSrvrIP=egar
txtSrvrGW=agae
txtSrvrMask=eaga
lstTimeZone=US%2FCentral
txtDNSDom=aega
txtDNSHold1=efar
txtDNSHold2=ergar
txtDNSHold3=

how do i print this output the way it is stored? the output is printed all on a single line

When you do @raw_data = <DAT> the newlines are being removed as the lines are split (automatically) into the array elements. So when you print the data you can't just dump @raw_data... Try something like...

my $line
foreach $line (@raw_data) { print "$line\n"; }

You could also use shift or pop if you don't need the array again....

my $line
while ($line = pop @raw_data){ print "$line\n"; }

Shift takes from the top of the array (LIFO), pop from the bottom (FIFO)...

thanks that worked for the counsol output but i still get this in the browser:

VTI-GROUP=0 txtCfgId=test txtCfguser=test1 txtEmailAdr= txtPager=test txtSrvOU=test txtProject=rhga pnlServerID=eaga txtSrvrIP=egar txtSrvrGW=agae txtSrvrMask=eaga lstTimeZone=US%2FCentral txtDNSDom=aega txtDNSHold1=efar txtDNSHold2=ergar txtDNSHold3= Submit=Submit =

how can i get this to change to one item/line

That's the difference between how browsers interpret "newlines" (they ignore them) and ordinary text output... I don't see where your program distinguishes console from browser output... But on the browser output, you would append "</br>" when you want the newline... so

print "$line</br>"; if you see what I mean..... Probably you end up doing both i.e., print "$line</br>\n"; That's because you might want to edit the browser source some time and without the \n in there, your text editor will probably not look right...

You might have to escape the brackets, I don't remember.... that is \</br\>. You'll just have to play around...
