How would i go about creating a shell that will allow me to change file status and copy from one directory to another??

I would appreciate it if you could give me a website with a tutorial so i can read it or just let me know.

Creating a shell ? Are you going to write a new shell or do you want to use one of the existing shells.

change file status - whether it is readable / writable something like that.
man chmod

copy from one directory to another -
man cp

there are many good tutorial links in the forum please search for them Smilie

what do you mean with file status? is this about atribute?
you can use ls -al to know about the atributes.

chmod to change the atribute, reade write, execute.
chown to change the owner.

To copy directory you must add recursive option
#cp -Rf dirA dirB

man cp, chmod, chown etc.

I meant write my own shell not use one of the previous ones, how would i do that, is it even possible.

Thank you for the other stuff i kind of knew some of that stuff like chmod and cp

It must be possible, somebody (or team) must have written the existing shells. Smilie

Look in the high-level programming section, you should see a couple of people writing their own.
