Bug mail
Pretty new to the UNIX environment, so I'm hoping someone has a quick and easy answer for me. I have a bunch of cron jobs that run daily and send me an email when they are completed. I'm wondering if this is a way to turn off the feature that populates the ORACLE file in var/mail. Since I get an email at my desk, I really don't need anything written to the ORACLE file. Is there a way to stop this? Apreciate any help you can provide.

There are two things that you will have to do.

First, since you are getting email and the oracle user is getting email. You will have to disable the mail command in any script that is sending mail directly to you.

Second, you will need to create a .forward file in oracle's home directory with your email address in it. This will send the mail to you instead of delivering it to the oracle user.

There is more complicated but better way to do this with sendmail aliases, but this is just as good.
