sftp prompting for password

I have the problem with SFTP; BELOW IS the entry from my ssh_config file
Quote:
# Configuration data is parsed as follows:
# 1. command line options
# 2. user-specific file
# 3. system-wide file
# Any configuration value is only changed the first time it is set.
# Thus, host-specific definitions should be at the beginning of the
# configuration file, and defaults at the end.

# Site-wide defaults for various options

# Host *
# ForwardAgent no
# ForwardX11 no
# RhostsRSAAuthentication no
# RSAAuthentication yes
# PasswordAuthentication yes
# HostbasedAuthentication no
# BatchMode no
# CheckHostIP yes
# AddressFamily any
# ConnectTimeout 0
# StrictHostKeyChecking ask
# IdentityFile ~/.ssh/identity
# IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa
# IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_dsa
# Port 22
# Protocol 2,1
# Cipher 3des
# Ciphers aes128-cbc,3des-cbc,blowfish-cbc,cast128-cbc,arcfour,aes192-cbc,aes256-cbc
# EscapeChar ~
It's prompting me for password all the time when using SFTP. pLEASE help.

dsravan, please create a new thread when starting a new topic. Your ssh_config file may not have anything to do with your problem.

First check that the keys are shared between the user on the client (system from where you are connecting) and the user on the server (system to where you are connecting). The home_dir/.ssh/id_dsa.pub or home_dir/.ssh/id_rsa.pub file contains the public key. That key from the client should be present in the home_dir/.ssh/authorized_keys2 file on the server. The .ssh directory on both systems should be owned by the user and with 700 permissions. The files inside the directory should be with 600 permissions.

Verify all this and if you still have problems, then run ssh in debug mode to figure out why it is asking you for a password.
