Maybe we can figure this out. Signon as ivan, cd to that directory, run the following commands and post the results:
df -n .
id
grep ivan /etc/passwd
which rm
whence rm
# 9

Snipped straight from the HP-UX rm man page:
Removal of a file requires write and search (execute) permission in its directory, but no permissions on the file itself; but if the sticky bit is set on the directory containing the file, only the owner of the file, the owner of the directory, or a user having appropriate privileges can remove the file
.

ivan and root on that system must have the same uid..
As Perderabo said the output from id would be helpfull.

id ivan
id root

Or ivan has a private suid-to-root shell or version of rm. Or the directory is remote mounted from a system without unix filesystem permission semantics. Or it is something else Smilie
