To avoid errors from core directories use this:
Code:
# find / -name core -type f -exec rm {} \;

(Same response I gave to an earlier correspondent).
Be very very careful.
Run the "file" command on the file called core to verify that it is a core file e.g. "core file from ...". Such files can be deleted.
If you are writing an automated script, confine any search to files only and include a test of the output from "file".
On many unix systems there are files and directories called "core" which you do not want to delete!

Please do not under any circumstances execute the command suggested by "skybird666".
