SSH key authentication

Hi all,

I have got a Solaris machine and I have several user account setup up with the .ssh and authorized_keys file in their home directories.

I have check all the permission and ownership and they are all indentical and belongs to the user ID and group respectively. However one of the account is not willing to let me in when I try to ssh to it under the account.

Is there anything else I missed to configure? Thanks guys

How was the ssh key for that account generated?

was it ssh-keygen -t rsa?

If it was, you must have a id_rsa.pub file in the .ssh folder under the user's home directory.

You have to copy this file in the .ssh/authroized_keys folder under the home directory of the account in which you want to login.

yes, I did that and that why one account on the dest work and one doesn't, to make myself clear I trued the following

CASE 1 : userA@source1 > userB@Destination1 (works)
CASE 2 : userA@source1 > userC@Destination1 (ask for password)
CASE 3 : userA@source 1 > userC@Destination2 (works)

so I am have big headach to find out what's wrong with userC@Destination1

If it is user profile related, it shouldn't work on case 3

If it is the machine, case 1 wouldn't work

Therefore, it shoud be something related to the setting like permission and ownership. However, case2 and case3 are the same....

Take Case 1 and Case 2. In user B's home directory, under the authorized_keys folder, the .pub file may be present and not in the User C'shome directory.

Take Case 2 and Case 3. In user C's home directory on Destination1, under the authorized_keys folder, the .pub file may be present and not in the User C'shome directory on Destination2.

Both point to the fact that userC@Destination1 home directory does not contain the public key file.
