I need to list only file names of a specific date from the command ls -lt.

Try using:

ls -lt | grep 'Date'

Example: ( Using Solaris 7 )

If you were looking for files on July 4, 2000 you would

ls -lt | grep 'Jul 4 2000'
ls -lt | grep 'Jul(2spaces)4(2spaces)2000'

If you were looking for files on November 30, 1998 you would

ls -lt | grep 'Nov 30 1998'
ls -lt | grep 'Nov(1space)30(2spaces)1998'

You must be careful with your spacing. Run ls -l and pay close attention to the way the date field is spaced.

for example.. i want files modified from 1st oct 2001 to 5th oct 2001.
