UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi:

At every month end I would like to collect the information of a spool.
Every Spool has more then one job, below is the individual job information, I really want to collect into a text file.

Sp-id Proc User Printer Id Pty Form Copy Total
SP7494 MONTHEND SYED R123 P2 1 WIDE 3 105
SP8960 JWEEKLY BILL R456 P5 1 0001 2 1896

I have tried ulpview (view spool file) but it displays all the information in a file. I don't want to store the file. But I would like to have the spool id, procedure name, user, printer etc, information into text file.


Any one can give me the idea to solve the problem.

Try posting your OS and version. The 'ulpview' command you mentioned isn't found on a search.

Also look at pulling the information and using the cut command (or similar) to get the columns you do want.

AIX 4.x But the ulpview command is from unibol.

The only think I am looking is the above red highlited info in a text file.

Above is the spool display, which has more then 1 file.
What i really want to do is to copy the contact of a display into a text file. I really do not need the data, but the Sp-id, Proc Job, Printer, ID, Form, into a text file.
