Row number

Dear All,

I am new to UNIX . Please tell me how to retreive row number from the file.
In AS/400 we can retreive RRN(Relative record number ) from the file, In same way what is the option to take relative record number from the file in UNIX.

It may be very easy query, but still I need ur help

No , I am asking about record number . Say for example the table having 100 records , then I need to take 51st record from the file , how to take that?

I have no idea what you mean by batch mode

are you saying you have multiple files or multiple line numbers ?

@coolmaninit: I think it'd be best if you post what you have and what you need, and describe the logics that should go into the transformation. Then a tailored solution might be dreamed up.
