Wget manipulation help
Hello again Unix.com,

Just wondering if i can generate with a script:

got http://upload.com/1/1.txt

How can I download files:

http://upload.com/1/1.txt
http://upload.com/2/2.txt
to
http://upload.com/1000/1000.txt

Is there any way to auto-generate links?

Use a counter in a loop:

bash-3.2$ i=1
bash-3.2$ while [ "$i" -le "1000" ]; do
>    echo "http://upload.com/${i}/${i}.txt"
>    (( i = i + 1 ))
> done
...
http://upload.com/998/998.txt
http://upload.com/999/999.txt
http://upload.com/1000/1000.txt

Substituting in your wget command as required. What do you mean by auto-generating links?

Try sth like this..

do
link="http://upload.com/"$i"/"$i".txt"
wget $link  # Put your wget command here
done

i am trying to ftp files/dirs with wget. i am having an issue where the path always takes me to my home dir even when i specify something else.
