./configure: not found

Hi,
I'm trying to install sudo on Solaris 10. I have added the package. The notes said to use "./configure", "./make" and "./make install" to complete the installation. However, none of the commands are found.

Can you please tell me how to enable it or how else can i install the package.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Scarlet

Is this Solaris on SPARC or x86?

You would normally download a tar (or gzip or zip) file and unpack it creating a directory (eg, sudo-1.7.0). Yours may be a different name.

The configure script, for example, will be in that directory therefore you will need to change directory to that before trying to run configure.

For example,

Code:

cd sudo-1.7.0
./configure

Hope that helps.

Note that if you want to compile a private copy, not being root, you can option configure to move the file home, like to $HOME/myroot/usr/local/bin.

Hi,
Its sparc.

I used the package TCMsudo-1.8.6p4-sparc.pkg. I then cd to the directory I unzipped on and used the command "./configure" and got the command not found message.

Afterwards I used "pkgadd -d downloadPath/fileName> I'm not sure if I still have to use the configure command.

When searched for "visudo" and found it in the /usr/local/sbin. When I used ". visudo" I was able to edit the file. Can you tell me how to add the user there and if it will work?

Thank you.

Regards,
Scarlet

./configure is for when you download source, pkgadd is for binary distribution via pkg. Since I rarely have root, I did a lot of the former.
