Java what is the best os
Please tell me the best os! What should i use? What do you like? Smilie

Best for what?

For a desktop I like WinXP (I know I will get flamed)
For a server I like Solaris
For a home toolbox or small server Linux on Intel is perfect
Linux is probably best to learn *NIX on

Are you trying to provoke a "religious war" or what? Nobody can agree on what the "best" OS is.

Indeed, there is no "best" OS - each has it's own particular pros, cons, features and problems.

It is worth directing a post like this towards the rules as these clearly state....

(8) No BSD vs. Linux vs. Windows or similar threads.

Even though it may seem like an innocent enough question, these kind of threads can quickly turn into flamepits if we're not careful.
