Well in a related note I'm curious if there is a way to query the hostname of a machine remotely.

For example, if a network is migrated, I'd love to have a script to query a box by hostname or IP and have the machine spit out the hostname on the box located on that IP for verification. Smilie

Let's say you want to find out who is connected to 10.100.0.1

Code:
# who -u | grep 10.100.0.1
user pts/tUh Jun 20 14:08 0:23 12437 10.100.0.1

Then you'll be able to send a message.
