Reborg,

I checked the man page of my make.
Its from Gnu that i know.

It doesn't have a single occurence of the word gnu ( all cases ).

This leaves me with only the Perderabo's option.
A difficult one. Smilie

Are you sure you were seeing the man page for the gnu version of make, and not a different one from your MANPATH? There are at least 15 occurrences of the word GNU in the GNU make man page, including in the first few lines:
Code:
NAME
make - GNU make utility to maintain groups of programs

The man page of gnu stuff does give out "GNU--" indication, unless the manpege does not come with GNU package.

There is another alternation: use ldd -v to check linked shared libraries. That will also give you "GLIBC" indication.

What's this GLIBC.

I tried ldd on a couple of Gnu commands, but didn't got that in anyone.

Sorry,

I was referring to a different man page.

I got the name GNU in the man page.
