UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I can use pipe output to a file. For example
./somescript.sh > output.txt

But for example if the output from ./somescript.sh is slow. like if it prints one line every minute then output.txt is not updated every minute. Lines are written to output.txt in one go, hence have to wait for the whole somescript.sh to finish.
Is there a way in which the output is written to pipped output as it is executed so I can keep seeing the output to the file ?

I know tee. But tee also waits until some lines are printed and then print and write to the file at once not in one by one.

somescript.sh takes prints one line every one minute and doing the above two methods will wait until some lines i think 120 lines are printed and then written to the file.

In other words If I do,

Code:

./somescript.sh > output.txt

and then do

Code:

wc -l output.txt

it always show 0, instead of writing 1 line each minute, and suddenly after some time the number of lines written are 120 (approximately)
