Substitute in VI

Hi there,

i am updating a file on UNIX and have many lines as per below :

listen:x:37:4:Network Admin:/usr/net/nls:

i would like to substitute from the :/usr to the end of the line.
so at the moment im using this :

:s/"\/$/ /g

but i get an error.can anyone help?

sed 's^:/.*$^ your_value ^g' s
try this .....!!

In Vi it would be...

:1,$s/\:\/usr.*$/replace text/g

This worked for me. Replacing everything from that spot to the end of the line.

:%s/:\/usr.*/efs/

Explained:
Code:
:      Command mode
%      Search all lines
s/     Start search pattern
:      Match a colon
\/usr  Then the string /usr (escape the slash as it has special meaning)
.      Then any character
*      and any number of characters
/efs/  replace with this string

substitute file name
