UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi All,

I have 7 files, each containing 9 columns separated by space. I want to extract the 9th columns from every file and save in a new file. The columns must be pasted next to each other. And the title of each columns should be the name of the corresponding files! Since the 3rd column is common to all files, I can extract it in a new file and join with the output.

Ex. file1

sl core name conc dilu fill rate type final
34 12 sn1 21 0.45 56 76 0.44 0.009
23 45 sn2 87 12 45 67 87 0.08

sl core name conc dilu fill rate type final
45 67 sn1 45 78 34 19 56 0.09
