"Operation not permitted" when copying directories
I'm kicking Unix questions out like Bruce Lee. So I'm copying a directory of files, in each directory I inevitablly get this:

cp: cannot create symbolic link `../dir/or/file/or/whatever': Operation not permitted
I get that for usually the same set of directories/files in each folder. Is there a way to override this when copying files?

Are u not the owner of those files in those directories ?
Are those files belong to some sort of repository ? (CVS or Continuus or Clearcase ? )

try change permissions of thos files and try cp again.

Yeah, I'm the owner. The files/directories that give me that message are CHMOD 700 and 750. One is the /www/ directory and the other is a directory in my /tmp/ directory.

Can u paster here ... the 'ls -ltr ' of that direciry and also 'ls -ltr ' of files
u have prblem with .... ; Thanks

what does, cp -R *, produce?

User gets "The operation could not be completed because you do not have enough access privileges."

pthread_create returns "operation not permitted" if I try to link static?

Hello, I am trying to port some testtools we wrote from solaris to redhat linux(AMD64). If I link dynamic, set the correct LD_LIBRARY_PATH, everything runs fine.
