This thread may help (and may not! ) but the clue is to "read the manual"! Your answer may be there.

See this and Note warning

And this

(It may help if you put the model number - seems to be lots of different models with the same problem but many fixes depending on model)

http://emeitner.f2o.org/nx9005/#touch also has information.

It looks like you've got a Synaptics touchpad - this requires drivers and an edit to XF86Config.

I know the model numbers are slightly different, but it may be worth looking into (backup XF86Config first!).

You could also try (which distro are you using?) going into whatever control center is available (YaST on SUSE for example) and enabling the PS/2 mouse, which most touchpads will work as. Yeah, you might not get all the synaptics features like scrolling, etc, but at least you'll be able to point and click with it.

Cheers

i had to take your last choice since I couldn't find XF86Config.. wait let me rephrase that... when I looked up XF86Config using find I found about a thousand config files... and foudn /usr/share/system-config-mouse directory.. but didn't quite know what I was accessing.. i found file a that enables synaptics using IM/PS2 which RTM had clued me into but I am not sure how to update it..
