I have a text file containing output from a command that contains lots of escape/control characters that when viewed using vi or view, looks like jibberish. But when viewed using the cat command the output is formatted properly.

In the bash when the user inputs an id to search for the bash currently closes, and if a match is found outputs a new file (match.txt). Is there hopefully a way to search for an exact string in Man Pages? I know if I want to search for anything containing -c I can just do this.
