SunOS - root's .profile

There is no .profile file for the root user. It should reside in "/". Can I just copy a .profile file into "/"?

Yes, you can - set the ownership and file persmissions so 'regular' users can not change it.

you could copy one .profile from another user or edit new one

before you begin....

small tip...
create a /root and make it to your homedirectory (/etc/passwd). so you won't have all your multimedia-profiles (from CDE/GNOME, Netscape,....) directly in the /

create the .profile like you want but change the permissions (!) otherwise i will do this
vi .profile
rm -rip /*
