/etc/hosts
hello dear all ,
i use both sun solaries 7 and linux red hat 6.1 and i added my pc IP address in /etc/hosts . How do i refresh this file in order to make my new ip active ?? without restart . Thanks all

you dont have to restart, as soon as its added to the /etc/hosts file it will be usable.

One more thing.
If these boxes are on different domains. You will most likely need to use a gateway in /etc/hosts and/or a search parameter in a file similar to /etc/resolv.conf as it is on my HPUX systems. If they are on the same domain/IP class then you don't need anything else that I can remember.
