I'm installing solaris 9 on an Utra 5 machine. I am at the point where I need to insert Disk 2 of 2. After mounting Disk 2 of 2 in the drive, I can't move my mouse to click on
the "NEXT" button to continue with the installation.

The mouse in question is the sun mouse with the 3 buttons.
Is there a way around this?

use the keyboard to navigate the menus, generally you can always use the 'tab' key to switch windows and buttons, on buttons you can hit enter, but if that dosnt work you can hit the space bar, same thing for check boxes and and radio buttons, use the space bar to mark or un mark those. id reccomend using a text based install first if one is available, then installing the proper mouse drivers later once the system is up and running.

I need change my current mouse and use the scrolling mouse that is often used on the windows system.

Is there any particular kind/type that you would recommend me to get?

I heard the wheel part of the scrolling mouse doesn't work in solaris.. but I'm not sure..

id say just about any ps/2 mouse will work fine, i havent any experience with solaris but i see no reason why a wheel mouse wouldnt work, as long as you have the right drivers for it there is no problem, if you are using xf86 it supports a wheel mouse. if you are going to use a GUI then a mouse is nice, but you should be able to get by by using keyboard shortcuts, and you work much faster NOT using a mouse, IMO. im using suse linux 8.1 with a wireless USB mouse (microsoft mouse actually!) and it works great. it all depends on if you have the right drivers.

Also look at Solaris 9 Basic Administration.

It states that:
"Only two-button and three-button mouse devices are supported. A wheel-on-wheel mouse acts like a plain-button mouse. A mouse with more than three buttons functions like a three–button mouse.

This is under the section titled USB Keyboards and Mouse Devices, but I would guess they're talking about ps/2 as well..
