Xmms Crash in Red Hat 8

I have a 500mhz K6 that I'm running Red Hat 8 on. I use xmms for all my music media playing purposes, but There seems to be an issue between xmms and volume control. Every now and then when I adjust the volume through aumix xmms freezes up and sends the sound into a runaway loop that I cant seem to reset without rebooting. I cant find any documentation that xmms is optimized for 686, so I dont think thats the problem, but I've never had this problem on my P4 Red Hat 8 system. Has anyone else experienced this problem or another like it?

I have seen the reports on xmms.org, but none of the reports seem to be similar to the problem I am having. But i think I will go ahead and remove xmms and reinstall anyways, to see if it helps, I think I'll compile from source to best match my system too.
