Hi, everyone. I tried to install red hat 8.0 on this computer ( CPU: Intel PIII 866, Memory 128 M, HD: 6.4G MATROX, Vedio card: RIVA TNT 16M), but the process always stuck. And the CD-ROM stopped and the light turned of, the HardDrive's light still on. I waited for almost one hour, but nothing happened. I tried 'ctrl+alt+backspace', it showed:

The application 'mini-wm' lost its connection to the display :1.0;
most likely the x server was shut down or you killed/destroyed the application

What happened? Is there something wrong with the CD or just the computer not compatible with rh 8.0?

memory MAY have something to do with it, from the redhat website:
Memory:
Minimum for text-mode: 64MB
Minimum for graphical: 128MB
Recommended for graphical: 192MB

so your just at the minimum, still no reason for the xserver to crash, however running at just the minimum in the past for me really slowed down the performance of a graphical install significantly. try a text only mode install, if everything goes fine, dont worry too much about starting your xserver after that, it should run fine. i may be wrong though, something else may have caused the x server to crash. but still id say try the text mode install.

Sounds like a bug - try reporting it to Redhat...

Also, try using a different installation method - instead of the bloated GUI installation, try the menu interface.

Did you try digging around in bugzilla.redhat.com? I couldn't find anything but I only looked for 2 minutes searching on the key words in your error.
