Want to learn unix
Hello everyone,
I would like to learn and administrate unix operation system. For training purposes, i would to install at home an unix system on my windows machine (using vmware player or virtual box.) I would like you to advise me on which exactly operation system can i install for learning purposes ? thank you. |

Hello. Actually I would encourage you to pick-up a Sun Ultra 10 box. They can be had pretty cheaply on eBay. But you will need to use the older mini-din style keyboard. Sun's version of Unix is called "Solaris." The current version is Solaris 10 and it can be downloaded for free from Sun's website. Using a Sun box with the free OS will enable you to train in a native environment rather than using VMware and it won't cost you too much $. ~Robert |
